Update 18 April ... You asked for it, you got it. Today we will be working on your Politics project. Remember that the rally is on Monday, so time is runnning short. Today would be the time to finalize presentations, finish off speeches and practice exactly how you are going to approach your presentation. Relax...it'll be really great!

On an added note ... you should take the time (if you have it) to research other party sites...see what they're up to and tell us why your ideas are better. Just be careful not to over do it.

Update 17 April ... YAY! We finally got a date for a political rally and election. Our official Election 2007 rally will take place next Monday afternoon, with the election taking place the next day. To keep things realistic, you must remember to bring a piece of identification with you (school id, library card, home made id card). You will only have a short amount of time from here on to get your work together. Get to it!

Update 16 April ... While I try to secure a date for our rally, you will be busy creating an incredible, multi media presentation for our rally. If the rally doesn't actually happen, I have a second option (more on that very soon).

Today...I will be checking that your political speech is being worked on. This is different than just reading through a powerpoint. TALK TO US! Let us know what you stand for and why we should vote for you.

When you have time ... take a look at all the forms written below. It will fill you in on a lot of the things coming your way.

Update 13 April ... The date for the political rally and election has been un-set again due to the theatre being pre-booked. I won't be able to come up with a final date again until we get back on Monday, but there will definitely be an extension. Although you have added time, there is still a lot to do to get ready. Check the Official Legislature Documents below to see what could be coming your way. Because of all your hard work, this activity is growing more than I could have expected. Keep it up and it will be a highlight of our year!

Update 11 April ... Today I need you to take a more focused look at your campaigning. I am concerned that in your quick visits to your constituents, and your political rally presentation, that you will simply read the screen. If possible, I would like you to 'present' your ideas to us. Your PowerPoint, etc should just be used to illustrate your point. Wow your constituents, and direct them to your site. They can read it themselves.

Also...at this point all five of your issues should be completed. I will be checking for that today.

Update 10 April ... Ok, so now our campaigning begins. I am going to try and hold our ELECTION 2007 RALLY next Monday in the theatre. This will be for our entire team. In the meantime, however, you must use your time to complete the project requirements and get the word out for your political party.

TODAY: You will be given the opportunity to speak with 8A and B during DEAR. You will have approximately 3-4 minutes to give them a very basic outline of your political party and why you are the obvious choice to represent the students of NMS and New Brunswick. Direct them to your sites, hand out flyers, show a quick video or PowerPoint. This will be a shorter version of what you are doing next week.

Mr. Miller and I will be around to answer questions and keep you on track.

Update 2 April...Today, I will be checking to make sure that your party has completed a minimum 2 of the 5 required issues to be discussed.

In addition to this, some members of your party (depending on your responsibilities) will be working on your campaign. I will now begin taking requests for the first Royal Blue Team Campaign Tour. If you would like some time during DEAR to present your platform to your constituents, please see me with what you have and we'll arrange the tour bus.

Get to it!

UPDATE!!! You'll be pleased to know that I've added something to your required list of issues. Please address the following point when you prepare your campaign:

New Brunswick is home to one of the most important military bases in Canada, and currently has a significant presence in Afghanistan. How does your party feel about our country's involvement in the dispute in the Middle East? Remember to support your opinions.

WOW! What a great start to this project! Just about all the parties have their wikispaces set up and are in the process of filling them with USEFUL information to their constituents. As you go, I need you to remember a few very important pieces of information.

1. This election is for our entire team. Do not forget to include issues that might be important to 8AB. They are voting as well. Oui, oui!

2. Smooth transitions and things that blink are nice and everything, but don't spend all of your time making your site pretty. Remember that there are important criteria to be met in this project. I will be checking your sites regularly to make sure that you are doing your work.

3. You may act as critic to the other parties, but keep it clean. No Flaming!

4. There are a lot of things you can do with these sites. If you make flyers, pictures, a short video / campaign commercial, etc, we can put it into your wiki.

5. Check this page for updates.
